FAQ About Dog Daycare

How to Choose a Good Dog Daycare

Perhaps you work long hours and do not like leaving your dog alone all day. There are options for dog daycare, but you need to choose one that is going to benefit your dog as well as give you peace of mind while you're at work. Dog daycare centers are not created equal, which is why doing your homework pays off.

  1. Look
online to see where some local dog daycare centers are that would be
convenient for you to drop your dog off in the mornings and pick up
at the end of the day. If you live in a large city, you will find
    several dog daycare facilities.

  2. Call
a few that interest you and are convenient. Set up a time to come in
and tour the facilities at a time when they are in full operation.
Do not be talked into visiting after hours or before the facility
opens. You want to be able to see how the staff interacts with the
dogs and how the dogs are cared for. You can also just drop in
unannounced and ask for a tour.

  3. Find
out how many dogs they care for and how many staff members they
have. After all, if they have 50 dogs and one staff member, the dogs
are not getting the proper attention or care. Typically, there
should be about one staff member for every 10 to 12 dogs. This gives
them a chance to keep the dogs happy and cared for.

  4. Check
the cleanliness of the facility. You should not see feces around and
it should not smell badly. Moreover, check out the play areas where
your dog will be interacting with other dogs and see what kind of
activities they have to keep your dog's mind occupied while you're
away at work. Ask a lot of questions about their business, pricing,
licensing, and special training of the staff members that deal with
the dogs. The more you know about the facility, the better you will
feel leaving your dog during the day.
