How to Clean Black Patio Furniture

Black patio furniture can make the patio comfortable to sit on and enjoy the outdoors. Many homeowners prefer it because it is easy to maintain. It can be easily stored away during the winter months or left outside year round. Although it requires little maintenance, it will still need cleaning from time to time.

Materials Needed:

  • Garden hose

  • Large bucket

  • Hot water

  • Baking soda

  • Bowl

  • Sponge

  • Microfiber cloth

  1. Use a garden hose to rinse the furniture. You want to remove as much dirt and dust as possible before the actual cleaning because it will make cleaning easier.

  2. Fill a large bucket with hot water. Pour ½ cup baking soda in a bowl. Baking soda is a natural cleaner that will clean but not harm the furniture.

  3. Dip a sponge into the bucket of hot water and set the sponge on top of the baking soda. Press down lightly to attract the baking soda to the sponge.

  4. Use the sponge to clean the furniture. Get underneath the furniture also. Dip the sponge in the bucket soda as often as needed.

  5. Rinse the furniture off with the garden hose. Make sure all traces of the baking soda are removed. Use a microfiber cloth to dry the furniture. Allow the furniture to sit in the sun for 1 hour to dry.

  6. Pour 2 parts hot water and 1 part oxygen bleach in a bucket. Blend the ingredients to make a paste. It is used to create a cleaner that can help with sun fading on the furniture. Apply the paste to the furniture with a sponge. Rinse the furniture with the garden hose. Dry the furniture with a microfiber cloth and allow the furniture to dry before placing it on the patio.
