How to Clean Blowers on a Pellet Stove
A pellet stove is a residential heating device that burns small wood pellets to create heat. The wooden pellet drop down into a burning pot and the heat is pushed out of the stove by a blower fan. The blowers should be cleaned on a regular basis to ensure that the built up soot does not get pushed out into the house.

- Lay down a drop cloth around the perimeter of the stove. This should be done to prevent ashes from getting on the floor.
- Remove the cover to the combustion chamber of the stove, which is located behind the ash pan. Refer to your owner's manual if you are unable to locate the chamber on your own.
- Hold the blower with one hand and use your other hand to remove any ashes using a paintbrush.
- Continue to use the paintbrush to sweep down the combustion chamber. Start at the top of the chamber and work your way down to the bottom.
- Remove the ashes you knocked to the bottom of the combustion chamber with a shop vac. Make sure it has a HEPA filter to keep the ashes from spreading out into the house.
- Replace the cover to the combustion chamber.
