How to Clean Boxing Gloves

The more you use your boxing gloves, the more germs and bacteria accumulates on them. Those germs and bacteria can weaken the gloves and also make them smell bad. Cleaning them regularly will keep them looking good and help them last longer.

How to Clean Boxing Gloves

Materials Needed

  • Paper towels

  • Lysol

  • Fan

  • Plastic bag

  • Newspaper

  • Febreeze

  1. Place the boxing gloves in the freezer. Allow them to stay there for one complete day. This step will kill any germs on the gloves. Remove the gloves and place them on paper towels so they can dry for two days. Place a fan near the gloves to help the gloves dry faster.

  2. Coat the gloves with a mist of Lysol. This will kill any remaining germs and bacteria as well as control odor. Allow the gloves to dry. Avoid drying the Lysol with a cloth. The spray should be allowed to dry by air.

  3. Avoid using the boxing gloves right away. The next time you use them do not carry them in a gym bad because the gloves can quickly pick up germs. Place them in a plastic bag instead and carry them separately.

  4. Crumple up newspaper and inset it into the center of the glove when they are not in use. This will soak up any moisture.

  5. Spray the gloves with Febreeze on a regular basis to keep the gloves smelling fresh. Keeping the hand wraps clean is also important in decreasing germs and bacteria.

  6. Try not to overdo it with the sprays. If you overspray the gloves, they can become damaged.
