How to Clean Hotel Rooms

Everyone expects a clean room when they stay at a hotel. A hotel room should be clean enough when a guest walks into it that it would appear that no one else has stayed there. A hotel room should not only look clean it should smell clean as well.

Items needed:

  • All purpose cleaner

  • Wash cloths

  • Clean bedding

  • Toilet bowl cleaner

  • Furniture polish

  • Vacuum

  • Towels

  • Paper towels

  • Toilet brush

  • Air Freshener

  • Shower curtain

  • Glass cleaner

  • Room accessories

  1. Pick up all of the dirty laundry and place it in a bag. This includes removing all of the previous guest’s sheets, blankets, pillowcases, towels, shower curtain and rags. All laundry should be picked up, washed, dried and folded.

  2. Bring clean blankets, sheets and pillowcases to the room to replace the used bedding. You’ll need to put on the fitted sheet first, then cover it with a flat sheet and slip new pillowcases on the pillows. Put the comforter over the flat sheet and fold it about one-quarter of it down. Overlap the pillow slightly on the folded down comforter and pull the folded down comforter back over the top of your pillows.

  3. Restock the bathroom with clean towels, wash, cloths, toilet paper and tissues.

  4. Empty all of the trashcans in the room and replace the bags inside them with new ones.

  5. Scrub down the toilet with a toilet brush and toilet bowl cleaner, and wipe down the seat and outside of the bowl using a new wash cloth and all purpose cleaner.

  6. Cleanse the shower with spray shower cleaner and scrub it down with a scrub brush. Soap scum can be hard to remove. After scrubbing away the grime, rinse the bathtub with hot water from the showerhead.

  7. Clean out the sink using all-purpose cleaner and an unused wash cloth to keep from spreading germs. Rinse the cleaner out of the sink with hot water.

  8. Sweep and mop the bathroom floor with a broom, mop and bucket of soapy water.

  9. Clean all glass and windows with glass cleaner and paper towels. Paper towels work best on glass because they do not smear as badly.

  10. Dust any woods surfaces with wood polish and a new washcloth.

  11. Use carpet cleaner to clean up any stains or trouble areas on the carpet.

  12. Vacuum the carpet.

  13. Re place any other items the hotel provides for guests, such as coffee, snacks and do not disturb signs.

  14. Spray air freshener throughout the room to give it a fresh scent.
