How to Clean Janitorial Supplies

Janitorial supplies can get dirty rather quickly. They will accumulate dirt, germs and other debris, due to the nature of their use. Cleaning them effectively will make them much more effective when they are being used in janitorial work. Janitorial supplies should be cleaned often.

  1. Get a gallon of bleach and a large bucket or tub. If you have a lot of supplies to clean, a large tub will work best.

  2. Pour bleach into the tub or bucket until it is ¼ full with the bleach. Pour water into the tub or bucket until it is ¾ full with the water and bleach mixture.

  3. Get a cleaning brush and dip it into the mixture and clean all the large janitorial supplies that cannot fit into the tub or bucket. Thoroughly rinse all the supplies that you have cleaned with water and leave them to dry.

  4. Put all the smaller janitorial supplies into the mixture and allow them to soak for 45 minutes to an hour.

  5. Remove the supplies from the mixture and thoroughly rinse them with water and then allow them to dry.

  6. Soak mops in the mixture for 30 minutes and remove and rinse them thoroughly with water and then allow them to dry. Use the same method for any brooms that you will be cleaning.

  7. Repeat the above steps for janitorial supplies that are extremely dirty. Some janitorial jobs can be extremely hard on your supplies. Repeating the cleaning steps will ensure that these supplies are ready to be used again.
