How to Clean Laminated Countertops
Some people choose to install laminate countertops in their kitchen because they look just as good as the more expensive countertops. They may require a little more maintenance than the more expensive counters, but it basically boils down to keeping them clean.
Learning how to properly clean laminated cabinets is the key to keeping them looking good.
- Use warm water and dishwashing soap on a damp soft towel to clean the countertop on a daily basis. Never use any type of abrasive material or steel wool because it will leave scratches.
- Make a paste out of baking soda and water to remove any stains on the countertop.
- Use a sponge to apply the paste on the spots on the countertop. It is best to apply it in a circular motion.
- Allow the paste to set on the spot for at least 10 minutes.
- Use warm water to rinse the paste off the counter.
- Pour one cup of water and a half-cup of household vinegar in a spray bottle and shake well.
- Spray the mixture on the countertop to clean and disinfect. The vinegar works wonders in removing spots caused by coffee or water.
- Allow the mixture to set on the counter for at least 10 minutes before wiping off with damp towel. You may need to reapply the mixture on stubborn stains.
- Apply a light coat of laminate wax on the countertop once it has been cleaned and all the spots has been removed. This should be done to protect the countertop from future stains.
