How to Create a Mosaic Tile Table

How to Clean Mosaic Tile Grout

Mosaic tiles are often brightly colored. To keep them looking bright, cleaning the grout around the mosaic tiles is necessary. Like most grout, it can collect dirt, hairs and other clutter that makes it look dirty and possibly broken. Cleaning mosaic tile grout is not a difficult task but it can take several passes to make it look as clean as you would like.

  1. In a large bucket, mix hot water with dish soap and a tablespoon of lemon. The hotter the water is, the cleaner your tile grout is going to get because it is going to kill any germs left by bugs or dirty hands or feet touching it.

  2. Sprinkle the grout with baking soda. Make sure to use a generous amount of baking soda so that it bubbles up when the soapy water/ lemon mixture is added to it. When you add the hot soapy water and lemon juice, it may cause a chemical reaction that will cause it to steam; this is the acid mixing with the alkaline.

  3. Allow the baking soda mixture to sit on the tile for at least five minutes. This will lift any dirt and grime that could be on the grout.

  4. Using an S.O.S. pad, scrub away the mixture as well as all the dirt and other grime on the mosaic tile grout. Repeat as necessary until the tile grout is as clean as you would like it to be.

Remember that if your tile grout is a different color than white, which some mosaic grout is, it can look dirtier than others. Colors such as brown, red or black are going to show dirt more easily than some other colors.
