How to Clean Picture Windows

Picture windows should be cleaned on a regular basis to keep them looking nice. These types of windows are bigger in size than standard windows. They are much easier to clean because they do not have many hidden places on them to clean.

How to Clean Picture Windows

Materials Needed

  • Bucket

  • Mild liquid dish detergent

  • Cloth

  • Newspaper

  • Ladder

  • Garden

  1. Make a cleaning solution to clean the windows. Fill a bucket with warm water. Add five drops of mild liquid dish detergent. Swish a cloth around in the solution to create a small amount of suds.

  2. Use the cloth you swished around in the bucket to clean the windows. Start at the top and work towards the bottom of the window.

  3. Fill a second bucket with clean water. Use the clean water and a cloth to rinse the windows from the top to the bottom of the window.

  4. Crumple up a wad of newspaper and use it to dry the picture window. Newspaper is good to use to dry the window because it does not leave lint or create streaks. Go over the window as many times as possible with the newspaper to create a shine.

  5. Repeat the steps for all of the windows on the inside and for the exterior windows. It may be better to use a garden hose for the outside window as well as a ladder.

  6. Check over the windows for streaks. If you notice them, wet a cloth with water and wring it out until it is damp. Go over the streaks with the damp cloth. Use crumpled newspaper to dry the window. Recheck the windows to make sure they are clean.
