How to Clean a Coffee Machine With Powder
Keeping a coffee machine clean will improve the flavor of the coffee. Since it’s not easy to take the machines apart and scrub all the components, a special powder can be used to clean the parts that you can’t reach. If you don’t have the special powder you can make it on your own.
Cleaning your coffee machine with powder can be a great way to easily and quickly get rid of the residue that builds up in your coffee maker. Keeping your coffee machine clean by regular washings can prevent it from getting damaged and can make it last much longer.
What You’ll Need:
- Spoon
- Baking Soda
- Warm Water
- Citric Acid Powder
- Soft Cloth
- Clear out the coffee maker by cleaning the contents of the decanter and removing the filters. If you have filters that are plastic or metal, then they can be left in without any problems. Do not unplug your coffee maker.
- Get 2 tablespoons of citric acid powder and add it to the decanter. Do this for every 4 cups of water that it needs in order to be completely full.
- Fill up the decanter with warm water all the way up to its fill line. Stir the solution of citric acid until the powder has had time to become dissolved.
- Pour out the liquid from the decanter and pour it into the reservoir of your coffee maker. Place your decanter down by the base of the coffee maker. This will allow it to catch all the cleaner as it goes through.
- Turn on your coffee maker and set it to brew. Pour out everything in the decanter after it is finished brewing.
- Do this process once more with the same amount of warm water and citric acid powder. You will do this until the remains that you pour out are basically clear. Once this has happened, you can fill it only with warm water and allow it to go through another brew cycle to clean itself out.
