When bacteria accumulates inside an athlete cup, there is a chance that the cup user can get an infection. To prevent this from happening, athletic cups should be cleaned regularly. The process is simple and can save a person a lot of agony.

Items needed:

  • Disinfectant spray
  • Paper towels
  • Sink
  • Water
  • Drain plug
  • Antibacterial dish soap
  • Wash cloth
  • Towel
  1. Spray the athletic cup with disinfectant spray, and wipe it down with paper towels to kill most of the germs on it. After disinfecting, rinse the cup with water for about 30 seconds or so. Disinfectants can cause skin irritations which is why it is important to make sure that all of the chemical is removed before moving on to the next step.
  2. Turn on the hot water on the kitchen sink and allow it to warm up. Once the water reaches an appropriate temperature, place a plug inside the drain and squirt a dash of antibacterial dish soap into the sink. Allow the sink to fill up about halfway with soapy water.
  3. Place the athletic cup into the hot soapy water.

  4. Get a wash cloth, and soak it with the soapy water. Begin to scrub away at the athletic cup. Continue to scrub until any noticeable sweat stains are removed.
  5. Wait 5 minutes for the cup to soak in the dish water before laying it out to dry on a towel.
  6. Allow the cup to completely dry before the next use. Leaving any water on the cup and attempting to use it can promote bacteria growth.
