How to Compare 26-Inch LED Television Flat Screens
LED backlit flat screen televisions are more energy efficient than fluorescent backlit TVs. This is because LED lights produce less heat, which consumes a lot of energy. Most 26-inch televisions use LCD technology to create the picture and LED technology to light the picture.
- Research LED backlit television brands using the Internet. Read about the specifications of each make and model. Discount brands to consider include Vizio, Insignia, Olevia, Sansui, Coby, Dynex, and Element. Name brands to consider include Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba, Westinghouse, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, and LG.
- Note that LED televisions are LCD TVs backlit by light emitting diodes. LCD is the technology that uses pixels to transmit tiny spots of color that make up the entire picture. A higher pixel count means a higher definition picture. For example, an LCD TV with 720p has fewer pixels than 1080p. The 1080p television is capable of producing a clearer and superior HD video picture. If a show, movie, or sporting event is filmed with 720p cameras then the television will not reflect 1080 pixels but will receive 720 pixels.
- Choose from the most popular pixel counts including the less expensive 720p and the higher definition 1080p.
- Realize the differences between the two types of LED backlight configurations. “Full Array” refers to LED lights spread out all along the entire back panel of the TV. The newer and more commonly available televisions use the “Edge-Lit” configuration of lights positioned around the inside perimeter edge but pointing toward the center of the LCD picture.
