How to Compare Credit Cards
With the many types of credit cards available to consumers today, it can be difficult to decide which ones have the best offers. Consider your own needs and wants when choosing a credit card and compare the various offerings each one provides.
- Make note of your own needs and requirements for a credit card. Do you need to be able to keep a minmum balance, or do you desire a card that offers special perks for each purchase, such as an accumulation of points or miles to be used later?
- Look at the annual percentage rate the card offers and compare it to others.
- Determine if the card offers a fixed APR or if it varies based on the economy or your own line of credit.
- Examine the fine print to find out if the credit cards requires users to pay an annual fee, and determine what the annual fee is.
- Find out if the card offers any incentives for paying off the balance each month, such as a lowered percentage rate or any cash back.
- Determine if the card offers perks such as an accumulation of points or miles for use in the future on travel or other purchases.
- Find out if the card provides discounts at certain retailers or other perks on purchases.
- Determine if the card will provide enough of a credit line for you to be able to use the card as you intend to.
- Find out if others in your household can use the card as well.
