How to Compare Fitness Centers

Comparing fitness centers can help an individual decide which one to join. Some fitness centers offer personal training in the membership price while others offer the service for an additional fee. Trying a fitness center for 30 days is often the best way to decide whether or not to join.

  1. Choose two fitness centers to compare and find out the hours of operation for each. If you like to train at odd times, choose the fitness center that is open during your preferred workout hours. If both centers are open you can visit each to determine which one to join.

  2. Go to the first fitness center to find out if it has the type of equipment you need. Ask a trainer to show you around and look over the equipment to see if it is in good condition. If the fitness center is crowded that is usually a sign that it is a good one to join. Find out the membership fee and ask if the center has a discount for choosing a longer membership period.

  3. Visit the second fitness center and meet with a trainer. Compare the equipment to see if you like it more. Find out the cost and decide which center has the best value for the price.

  4. Sign up for a 30-day trial membership at the fitness center you choose. Train as often as you can so you can determine if the center is worth joining. After your free trial period is up, try the other fitness center for 30 days.

  5. Decide which center to join after you finish your second 30-day trial. You may want to sign up for 6 months at first and then decide whether to join for a longer period. Most centers will negotiate the price so do not be afraid to ask for a lower membership rate.
