How to Compare Pet Sitter Prices

Planning to go on vacation or out of town and leave your pet at home? Pet sitter prices can vary greatly depending on many factors. Compare and contrast the rates of various pet sitter prices to ensure the best deal.

  • Decide what service you will need for your pets, such as walking or playing with a cat or dog, brushing or other grooming services, cleaning out the kitty litter box, or watering and putting out food.

  • Determine the days for which you will need a pet sitter and for how long.

  • Ask for recommendations of pet sitters and pet sitting services from friends, neighbors, coworkers or your veterinarian or groomer.

  • Ask for a quote from several different pet sitters or pet sitting companies.

  • Determine what is involved in each pet sitter's price quote, such as interaction with your pet and if the pet sitter will come to you or if you need to bring your pet to another location.

  • Calculate hourly rates compared to daily flat rates to fairly compare the different rates.

  • Learn if the pet sitter is trained or certified in pet first aid or other medical services before leaving a pet in the care of a pet sitter.

  • Find out how many employees work with the pet sitting service and how many people might be visiting your pet or interacting with it.

  • Determine if you will need to pay any additional fees or expenses to the pet sitting service.
