How to Complete an Application Form for an Auto Insurance Quotation
Every insurance company has some type of form that you will need to complete in order to get a quote on your automobile insurance. Though the forms may vary slightly depending on the specific company, most companies will ask for the same basic information. Whether you complete the form online or on paper, you will need to know how to complete an application form for an auto insurance quotation.
1. Write or type the information requested by the insurance company. The first part of the application will ask you for basic information including your name, address, phone number, email address.
2. Continue to fill in the blanks for more personal information including your age, birth date, sex and marital status.
3. Gather your vehicle information. You will need to know the make, model, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and any safety features on the vehicle such as an airbag or anti-theft device. This information will be needed for each vehicle that you wish to insure.
4. Add the information regarding each driver on your policy. This would include you, your spouse, children and anyone else living in your home as a dependent.
5. List the social security numbers for each driver. This information will be used to run a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) at a later date. The MVR simply verifies all of the information you have provided to the insurance company.
6. Provide a complete driver’s history for each of the drivers. The company will want to know if anyone on your policy has had an accident or ticket. Be honest because the company will find out when they run a MVR. Giving the information accurately will help the company provide you with a more accurate quote.
7. Review the application to make sure you have filled in all of the blanks. If you have any questions, click the help button or call the insurance agent.
8. Sign and date the application or click “Submit Application.”
9. Wait at least 24 hours to get a quote from the insurance company. Even though some online sources may provide you with an instant quote, it is not always possible depending on your specific situation.
