How to Conduct a Proper Ghost Hunt

Many people find the idea of ghost hunting intriguing, and would love to have proof of the existence of wandering spirits. For those people wanting to go on a ghost hunt, learning how to conduct a proper ghost hunt should be first on the list. Doing research, finding the right equipment and practicing safety are a few of the musts for proper ghost hunts.

Research

Ghost hunts take place in areas where no sightings or paranormal activity have been reported. Ghost investigations take place once activity is reported. Ghost hunters should do as much research on the place as possible before conducting the hunt. Buildings and areas with long histories are often the best places to start. Hunters can research about important figures that dealt with the area before they passed away. Using the name of a ghost is more likely to draw it out. Hunters should also respect laws and regulations. They should always get permission to visit the site.

Equipment

In order to get proof of the paranormal, ghost hunters must have the proper equipment. A digital camera, digital voice recorder and temperature gauge are the basic tools of ghost hunters. The digital camera is used to take still shots of the area. Sometimes strange mists, orbs or even full body apparitions can appear in the pictures. The digital voice recorder is used to record while the hunters try to speak with the ghosts. Sometimes things that cannot be heard with the human ear can be recorded. The temperature gauge can show hunters sudden drop in temperatures, which can mean a spirit is near by.

Safety

Ghost hunters should never hunt alone. This not only decreases the creditability of evidence, but could lead to injury or death. By staying in small groups of two to four, accidents can be avoided. Ghost hunters should also carry a flashlight and cell phone for safety and emergencies. There are no reports of ghosts harming people, but there are weak floorboards everywhere.
