How to Connect an LCD TV and a VCR
When you purchase a new liquid crystal display (LCD) TV, the hook up process is the only thing standing in the way of you watching your television programming or your movies. While technology has advanced from VCRs, newer televisions do come equipped with the ability to connect to one.
- Determine what kind of connections you have on your VCR. There will either be a coaxial connection, which is an elevated cylinder shape with bevels around it, or a series of three of colorful outlets.
- Make sure there is a coaxial connection available for both the TV and the VCR. Make sure that the one on the VCR says, "Out" or "Output." The one on the TV will say "In" or "Input."
- Connect one end of the coax cable into the VCR's "Out" or "Output" connection. You just need to twist the outside section onto the elevated connector on the VCR.
- Connect the other end of the cable to the "In" or "Input" on the TV. Screw it on the same way.
- Turn on your television and VCR. Use the remote for the VCR or television to change to the correct input.
- Find the RCA cable outlet on both the LCD television and on the VCR.
- Hook up one side of the cables to the VCR. Plug in the each individual wire into the corresponding cable outlets. For instance, if you are holding the red wire, plug it into the red outlet on the VCR. Same goes with the yellow and white wires.
- Connect the other side of the RCA cables into the jacks on the TV. Make sure you color code these cords, as well.
- Turn on your television and VCR. Use the remote for the VCR or Television to change to the correct input.
