How to Cook Amazing Smoked Barbecue Ribs

Even if you love to cook, it can be very frustrating when you cannot find the best way to make a dish. Smoked barbecue ribs are a favorite of many but there are certain techniques that you can put into place to ensure they turn out perfectly every time.

  • Select a good rack of ribs. It is nearly impossible to choose a bad rack and have it turn out good. You want to make sure it does have some fat on it, which will help them stay moist and tender. Talk to someone in the meat department of your local grocery store if you are unsure what you are looking for, as they are quite knowledgeable.

  • Take your rib rack home with you and prepare it for cooking. You will need to clean it up and remove the membrane off the rack.

  • Decide on a seasoning. This is a very important step. You may have to experiment with a couple of different kinds of rubs, or even combination of rubs that your family will like. Once you have applied your seasoning, put it in the refrigerator to be able to absorb the flavor. This can be done for a few hours, or even overnight.

  • Prepare for cooking. The best smoked ribs are made in a smoker, using wood chips that are soaked. A charcoal smoker will give you the best smoked flavor, but will take about 3-4 hours longer to cook.

  • Place your meat into the smoker once it is up to temperature. You will want the rack to be in the smoker meat side up.

  • Monitor your ribs. They will need to be flipped about once an hour, and keep checking them with a meat thermometer.

  • Enjoy your ribs. While you may feel like a lot of work goes into a good rack of ribs, it is well worth it once you take your first bite.
