How to Cook Healthy Meals Faster

Although it's easy to want to eat healthy, the preparation process can turn you away from cooking healthy meals. Since a lot of people have very little time for cooking these days, it's important to take shortcuts when cooking healthy meals. With a little research and some handy tips, you can find healthy meals with a short prep time.

  • Buy food for at least a week when you visit the grocery store. When you do this you save a lot of time by making just one trip instead of several throughout each week. You can quickly throw together a healthy meal when you are stocked up.

  • Master cooking certain dishes to help speed up the process of making them. Once you put the process on autopilot, you'll be able to do other tasks while cooking.

  • Find healthy microwave recipes. There are tons of dishes that you can prepare and throw in a microwave to cook until they’re ready to serve. You can pick up a microwave recipe book at your grocery store or find one online.

  • Decide what you’re going to make hours ahead of time. If the main course is meat, you can place it in the refrigerator to thaw a day before or when you’re going to work in the morning. This will save you the time of waiting for the meat to thaw in the microwave before you can cook it.

  • Cut all vegetables into tiny pieces if you can. Vegetables take a long time to cook. If you slice a potato into bite-sized chunks you’ll decrease the cooking time drastically.

  • Cook more food in one sitting. If you think you may not have time to prepare dinner tomorrow, make extra tonight. Healthy meal leftovers will save you from cooking every single night.

  • Throw your meal in the Crock-Pot. Find healthy Crock-Pot recipes and you can slow-cook your food during the day while you work.
