How to Cook on an LP Gas Grill
Liquid propane is the most common type of gas used for grills. The gas is available in canisters that are connected to the grill and used to supply its heat and flame. If you need to purchase an LP gas canister or have one refilled, you can check your local phonebook for the nearest LP vendor location.
- Attach the LP gas source to the LP gas grill. Read the instructions that come with your grill to make sure you are connecting the gas properly because each grill model may be different. If you already have an LP gas canister connected to the grill, you can contact you local LP vendor to come fill it up.
- Twist the top of the gas source to open it, and allow the gas to flow into the grill. Make sure you are grilling outside or in a vented area because the gas could harm you if it is inhaled.
- Turn on your gas grill. Many models have automatic ignition switches that simply require you to turn a knob to light the flame. Other models require you to use a lighter or match to light the flame. You can then adjust the size of the flame by twisting the knob. Make sure there are no flammable items nearby before you light the flame.
- Spray the grill with cooking oil or cover it in foil. Once the grill has reached the right heat, add the food to the grill. Allow it to cook thoroughly on one side and flip it over to grill it on the other side.
- Remove the food from the grill and put it on a plate. Twist the handles on the gas canister to turn off the gas supply and the grill. Allow the grill to cool before touching it.
