Word art is an expressive art form in which you take words and create an abstract design or object with them. There are quite a few places online where you can make free word art that looks interesting and creative.

- Use Wordle.com or Flamingtext.com. These sites allow you to create free pieces of word out with no obligation. Flaming text is a traditional site that will let you make banners and other animated pieces of word art with their wide variety of fonts. Wordle will allow you to create other types of word art such as word clouds, which fall under the typography art category.
- Find text or think of word art ideas. Wordle will allow you to paste different words you want to use to create a large word cloud in the font of your choice. You can paste as many words as you want, including an entire blog article or even a short story. You can make your own poems and then use Wordle to customize it into a piece of art. Flaming text is a little different as you can add one word at a time and add different graphical effects to it with patterns and textures. After you are finished, you must save it under “save logo” for it to appear in your computer documents.
- Use Wordle’s Options. If you are unhappy with your basic word cloud, you can add different colors to it by using the small menu and adding color combinations. If you know HTML well, you can alter the look of your word art and manipulate it into a different type of design.
