How to Create Job Search Engines for Your Website

A job search engine will be a very valuable tool for your website. Placing a search engine in your website won't be as hard as you might think. You'll need some HTML knowledge, but not a lot. The new web design programs today make it easier to design websites.

  1. Find a quality job search widget online to embed in your website. Widgets are tools offered by other websites that are usually free to use. They help drive traffic to your website and also the website that designed the widget. There are several widgets out there. Indeed.com is just one of the many job search sites that offer widgets. The key is finding the one that is the most user friendly. You don't want it to be difficult for visitors to search for jobs.

  2. Copy the HTML code and save it in your notepad program. This program will save the code properly, Microsoft Word will change the code around when you copy it again.

  3. Open your web design software and find the page you want to embed the widget. Make sure you have copied the entire code. Missing one character will cause the widget to not work properly. Make sure you choose a spot that is very visible to visitors. You wouldn't want to put it all the way at the bottom of the home page because very few people will scroll that far down.

  4. Test the widget in a preview screen before publishing it. You might need to adjust some settings if you don't like how it looks.
