How to Create an Indoor Mini Golf Course

Miniature golf provides a pleasant family pasttime, but the weather doesn't always cooperate. Make your own semi-portable course to use indoors and enjoy a day of golfing anytime. Get creative and use your imagination to come up with different shapes and obstacles.

  1. Cut two 8-foot lengths from a
1-by-2 board. Cut two 3-feet-by-10-inch lengths from a
    1-by-2-inch board.

  2. Place the boards around the
interior perimeter of a 4-by-8-foot piece of 1-inch plywood.
Glue the boards with wood glue.

  3. Determine the location of your  hole and mark it on the plywood base. Cut a 3-inch hole using a hole saw.

  4. Glue a 4-inch diameter PVC pipe
cap fitting beneath the hole to catch the ball using an
epoxy glue. Place the cap on the same side of the board as the
1-by-2 board rails. Turn the plywood over so the hole opening
    is on top.

  5. Create an obstacle for the course.
Make a ramp out of plywood. Cut plastic bowls to to create hills.

  6. Attach the obstacle to the course
in the desired location. Use wood screws, wood glue or epoxy,
    depending on the material.

  7. Cover the entire surface of the
course and obstacle, with the exception of buildings, with green
felt. Glue it down with epoxy, pulling it taut so
you have a perfectly smooth course surface.

  8. Cut fake plastic outdoor grass
sheets into desired shapes to create a rough for the course. Glue
the plastic grass onto the course.

  9. Make four more 1-by-2-inch rails
for the top of the course. Screw these to the perimeter of the top
of the course using wood screws.

  10. Mark the tee location on the felt
    with a white paint pen.
