Everyone is always looking for ways to cut living cost, and some people do this by cutting their family's hair at home. Cutting men’s' hair at home is usually easier. It only requires a set of clippers and some good shears.
- Purchase a set of hair clippers and haircutting shears. You can find these at retail stores, drug stores and beauty supply stores.
- Decide on a haircut style. Do not try to get too creative if you are not an experience hair stylist. You should stick to simple styles like fades and buzz cuts. You can view these easy to do haircuts online.
- Read the instructions included with the hair clippers. There may be certain blade adjustments or oiling that should be done prior to using them.
- Prepare the man receiving the haircut. He should be sitting in an upright position when fee flat on the floor. You should be able to reach him easily. Cover his neck with a towel or haircutting cape, and wet his hair.
- Choose the correct guard. The hair clippers will come with several guard sizes. The smaller the guard the shorter the hair will be cut.
- Clip the back and sides of the hair. Start at the nape of the neck and move the clipper up towards the crown of the head. Complete this step on the back and sides of the head. If you are doing a buzz cut then cut the top in the same manner.
- Trim top with shears and blend the hair together. Use your fingers are guides to ensure that the hair is even.
- Trim the edges. Use trimmers to edge the neck and behind the ears.
