How to Declutter a Wardrobe
A wardrobe was pretty much called that years ago but some people still use the term today. It is a called an armoire by many people today. It is a separate piece of furniture that is normally tall and is only used to hang clothing. Many people use armoires in small spaces, like apartments. A lot of times, you may go to hang a new coat and find you have no more space available.
- Take everything out that is in the wardrobe. Once it is empty, you want to completely vacuum it out, wipe down the inside with a sponge and then let dry for a few minutes.
- Use wooden hangers inside the wardrobe. Hang each of the hangers about an inch apart so your clothing does not get cluttered once they are hung inside. You will also need to keep this up after everything is nice and neat. If you purchase a new item, then take something out that you either don’t wear anymore or it doesn’t fit.
- Sort through the clothing you had in the wardrobe that you removed. Keep only the clothing that you wear often, clothing that is in good condition and clothing that fits you. Everything else you can either sell or donate to a place like Goodwill.
- Place baskets inside the bottom shelf of your wardrobe. These can be any type of basket, but plastic may be your best bet. You can put almost anything in these baskets. Try and use the baskets for things that you use often such as nightwear or socks.
- Utilize the bottom shelf of the wardrobe for your shoes. Do the same thing with your shoes as you did with your clothes. Get rid of those that you don’t wear or don’t fit you anymore.
- Purchase a tie rack and install inside the wardrobe door. You can use this for ties but you can also hang things on the rack such as scarves and belts as well.
- Organize everything you are selling, tossing or donating into three separate boxes, one for each action.
