How to Decorate Interior Design Presentation Boards
After having studied interior design, you have many great ideas. Displaying these ideas to current customers and potential clients is essential to success. Creating a presentation board is one of the most effective ways to demonstrate your design ideas and allow others to evaluate your skills.
- Purchase a presentation board. Select a board size big enough to display three to five ideas on a single board. The 1/8 to 1/4 inch foam board will work well. There are also two color options: black or white. Think about the colors of your presentation. If they are darker, use a white board. If the colors are lighter, select black.
- Glue a border around the edges. This makes the board look neater and more professional.
- Remember that simple is better. You want your presentation board to stand out and look good, but be careful not to overcrowd with ideas. It is better to make two boards than clutter one with too many options and designs.
- Type and print any descriptions or information people need to know when looking at the presentation board.
- Cut out pictures and descriptions.
- Create a colored border around each description, picture or example. This can be done by gluing the item on a colored piece of paper. Cut around it, leaving a one inch border of colored paper.
- Lay the items on the board to determine where to put specific parts of the board. Try to keep the information balanced on the board. Center the items, if possible.
- Tape or glue examples, pictures and descriptions on the board. If your examples are heavy, like carpet or fabric pieces, you may need to use a hot glue gun.
