Wedding ceremonies are for the bride and groom. Learn ways to decorate wedding reception rooms so the guests will be thrilled. This is a time to thank your guests for participating in your intimate moments. There are some basic guidelines for all planning of wedding locale decorating. Basic items should be considered to make your guests feel like they mean something special to you. Keep a decorating theme consistent with the ceremony and reception style.

  1. Visit the wedding reception room that you will be decorating in person. You will need to ascertain what amenities are offered at your particular location. It is important to have all of this information so you will know how to decorate the locale to your liking.

  2. Continue the theme of the wedding with your reception room celebration. Some brides opt for the reception to be more informal. If that is the case, do the same with the decorations keeping a subtle theme still in place.

  3. Plan your decorations well in advance. Generally a bride has someone help her with her wedding preparations and decorative features.

  4. Make sure you know how much time you will have to decorate your wedding reception location. Some places do quick turn overs with their events. Get all of the timing details so you can plan accordingly.

  5. Consider hiring someone to decorate your banquet room for you if there will not be time. Otherwise, delegate someone to prepare the last minute details.

  6. Know that food is one of the main events. You will have to decide the menu and type or style of dining arrangements. Some establishments have supplies that can be accessed for wedding parties.

  7. Think of things that flow with the dinner environment. Table clothes, table centerpieces, wedding favors and room décor are all considerations.

  8. Do as much decorating ahead as you can. Have surprises and personalized displays or decorative elements that will enhance the mood you wish to set.

  9. Remember that your guests should feel welcome and entertained.
