How to Decorate a Sunroom
Sunrooms are typically beautiful and airy areas, which allow homeowners to retreat and recharge with nature, even if living in an area where there is not much wilderness. In order to maximize the feeling the space is supposed to have, it must be decorated in a consistent way.
- Pick a theme and feel for the sunroom. Sunrooms can be decorated in as many ways as there are homeowners. Examples of sunroom themes include beach theme, tiki bar theme, cozy sewing room theme, artistic theme or garden theme, among hundreds of other ideas.
- Choose the wall and floor materials to match the theme. For example, when decorating for a beach theme, sand colored linoleum or light colored wood flooring might be ideal. For a little sunroom tiki bar, some dark slate flooring would be perfect.
- Choose main furnishings which further fulfill the theme. Ottomans, couches and chairs, which are consistent with the theme, are important. For a cozy sewing room, plush, patterned furnishings would enhance the feel, along with a couple rocking chairs. Garden themed rooms look amazing with painted wicker furniture.
- Keep the finishing details consistent with the overall feel and the theme. Beach sunrooms could have seashells and starfish on a shelf and a surfboard leaning against a wall. A tiki bar room might have liquor bottles lining the ceiling and flamingo lights to add to the ambiance. A sewing room theme would be complete with a light colored quilt hanging off the wall and some cross stitch projects on the wall. An art themed room looks amazing with pictures and paintings all over the place, both on the walls and on easels. A garden themed room could be decorated with an herb garden, various potted plants and watering cans here and there as decoration.
