How to Delete Photos From a Computer Hard Drive
With many storage options available for our digital photos, it is no longer necessary to permanently store photos on your computer hard drive. Saving photos to other devices such as a USB Flash Drive or an Internet Cloud service can free up valuable storage space on your computer.
- Find the folder that holds the image or images you would like to delete. Usually, most images are saved to the "My Pictures" folder on your PC.
- Select the picture or pictures you want to delete. If you want to delete multiple pictures, hold down the "CTRL" button while clicking on multiple pictures to make your selections.
- Click the right mouse button to bring up a list of options for the photos you have selected.
- Move the mouse cursor down to "Delete" and a pop up will open asking if you really want to delete these pictures. Click "yes" to move your selected photos to the recycle bin.
- Find the recycle bin icon on your desktop and open it.
- Check the photos in the recycle bin. If you moved any photos here that you meant to save, you can restore them to your hard drive. Right click the recycle bin option, click "explore" and then find the photos you would like to save and click "restore."
- Click on the "Empty Recycle Bin" option to permanently delete the images you have moved to the recycle bin. Once the image has been emptied from the recycle bin, it is no longer accessible to you.
