How to Design a Kitchen Floor Plan
In designing your own home, you will create floors plans for each room within your home. These floor plans determine the dimensions used when constructed your rooms. Floor plans also outline for the contractor the locations for each fixture within the rooms. These fixtures include: the flooring, closets/cabinets, appliances, and utilities.
How to Design a Kitchen Floor Plan:
Step 1: Determine your desired measurements for your kitchen. If you are renovating an existing kitchen, measure the current dimensions to determine possible additions or reductions in the size of your kitchen.
Step 2: Determine the type of flooring, cabinets, and utility fixture to add to your kitchen floor plan.
Step 3: Use kitchen floor plan creating software to generate your floor plan. Some examples of this type of software are IKEA Floor Plan Designer,
Floor Planner, and
Smart Draw. Once you determine which software is best suited for your project, enter your kitchen dimensions into the software.
Step 4: Select the icons representing the choices you made in Step 2. Place these icons in the desired locations within the kitchen floor plan.
Step 5: Select Save to save your generated kitchen floor plan. Select Print to print out a copy.
