How to Design a Meeting Room
Meetings rooms are often used for business meetings, office parties or special events. When the rooms are not being used by the business that owns them, they may be rented out to the public for parties, classes or special occasions. A meeting room should be designed to fit the needs of everyone who uses it.
- Draw a rough draft or layout of the room. List the furniture that will go inside the room and measure each piece. Measure the size of the room to make sure all the furniture will fit and to help you determine how it should be arranged. Cut out the shapes of the various types furniture from construction paper and use them with a sheet of paper to represent the room and the furniture that will be placed inside. Rearrange the furniture to find the design layout that works best.
- Choose a plain paint color such as a tan, off white or a light shade of gray. These colors are professional and sleek and allow an adequate amount of light to enter the room. These colors also look good with most types of wooden trim and furniture.
- Choose simple pieces of artwork and decorations that help make the room comfortable and inviting but that do not distract people from the meeting or event that is taking place inside. Plants, statues, and black and white paintings work well in a work setting and will add the right amount of personality to the room.
- Make room for a dry erase board, audio system and projector screen. These items allow the boss or team leader to demonstrate graphs, charts and various techniques to employees and people who are attending the meeting. They can also be used during parties or special events when the room is being used by the public.
