How to Design a Mood Board for Your Bedroom

When it's time to remodel your bedroom, you feel like your mind is going in hundreds of directions at once. A mood board is a good way to bring your ideas together in one location and see how they will fit together.

  • Purchase a bulletin board. Depending on how many ideas you have, the board can be big or small. For fun, you can decorate the bulletin board in a neutral background so you have a good starting point.

  • Collect your ideas. Find pictures of furniture you would like to buy, gather paint samples and clip out relevant inspirations. Place all of this information on one side of the board.

  • Bring ideas together on the other side of the board. For example, try placing a picture of a piece of furniture you like next to a paint sample.

  • Leave the mood board in your bedroom. Let the mood board sit somewhere where you will be able to see it daily. As you go by play with the ideas. Move ideas from one side to the other and add new ideas over the days.

  • Discard of ideas you don't like. As the days go on, you can discard ideas you don't think about anymore. For example, you may have clipped a picture of a dresser you liked, but now you don't want to use the dresser, so throw the picture away.

  • Complete the board. At the end of your set time period, you should have only items hanging that you want to use. Proceed to buy those items for your new bedroom.
