How to Display Antique Dolls
If you want to begin collecting antique dolls, it is important to know how to properly display them. Antique dolls should be displayed in a way that will allow you to enjoy the beauty that they offer while protecting them from damage due to dirt and dust that can settle on their delicate surface.
- Decide which room you will be displaying your antique dolls in. You want to choose a room that does not receive a lot of direct sunlight. The UV rays of the sun can fade out the clothing on your antique dolls causing them to lose both beauty and value.
- Keep the temperature in the room where you will be displaying your antique dolls between 60-70 degrees, with relatively low humidity. Humidity can damage the dolls and cause mildew or mold to form on the surface of the dolls' body or clothing.
- Keep your antique dolls covered so that they are not exposed to dirt and dust that is often able to settle within your home. You can either use a large display cabinet, or individual protective glass boxes which will shield the dolls from dirt and dust.
- Place your antique dolls on stands that will keep them standing up within the case or display cabinet. This will allow you to enjoy their beauty by allowing you to see all of the beautiful detail and individuality of each antique doll you display.
- Dust the dolls regularly using a static charged duster to remove the dust that is able to penetrate the cabinet or case in which they are stored. The quicker dust is removed the easier it comes off, so it is best to dust your antique dolls once a week.
