How to Display Books and Clothing in a Small Gift Shop
In a small gift shop it is very important to display books and clothing well. Think outside of the normal displays. What catches a customer’s eye is a unique display that really showcases the items. You want it to look organized, but also show off the product well.
Book Display
- Place book shelves in an out of the way corner. Choose an area that has little foot traffic.
- Label the shelves so that books are easy to find. Organize you books by subject then author. Use plate holders to display popular or unique books.
- Set chairs and a table near the area. This will allow customers to view the books in a comfortable environment.
- Display books throughout your shop on the plate stands so that customers notice them as they shop. It will plant a little seed in their memory to check out the book section.
Clothing Display
- Hang clothing at a height that is comfortable to the average shopper. Reaching up and bending over to look at clothing can be tiring. If you customers are thinking about how tired they are they will not be looking at your clothing.
- Set up a display that shows off the clothing as an outfit. Add accessories so that customers get an idea of the whole look.
- Set out tables and shelves; fold t-shirts and jeans to save space. This will also give your store a clean organized feel to it.
- Leave room between tables and racks. Customers want to be able to move freely, they don’t like to feel as if the space is too small.
