How to Display Vintage Hats & Gloves

As a retailer you spend a great deal of time thinking about where the best places are to display your vintage hats and gloves. You ponder factors such as outside visibility, neatness of your display and how well your items fit together. Other areas that need attention in regards to displaying vintage items is how clean they are kept and how easy your customers can reach them.

Things You'll Need:

  • Vintage hats

  • Vintage gloves

  • Hat stands

  • Display table

  • Small mirror

  • Large mirror

  • Clothes brush

  1. Display the vintage hats together, in visible areas located throughout your store. Retail experts recommend placing your hats in their own spot, with everything else you need for the display nearby. You can still display other items nearby. Your goal is to attract customers to your stand, where they can try on several different varieties until they find one that fits.

  2. Hang the hats on a hat stand or place them on display shelves that are in easy to reach locations. You can also organize your hats on a pretty display table using tablecloths for decorative purposes.

  3. Place a large mirror near your hats because your customers will want to try them on to see how they look. Put a smaller mirror in the same general area to give your customers a way of looking, not only at the front, but also at the back of the hat when they put them on.

  4. Arrange vintage gloves on the same table as where you keep your hats. The combination of retail items displayed together works best when they are of like colors. For example, white gloves will work well when placed by a white hat.

  5. Keep the vintage hats and gloves clean and free of dust. You want to offer the best display possible in order to make sales and gain repeat clientele for your establishment. Clean hats and gloves with a clothes brush or a roller brush that is sticky. The sticky part picks up any dirt and grime from fabric and other like materials. You can also use adhesive tape to clean the items in a pinch.

  6. Reorganize your displays as needed throughout the day. Customers will come in, try stuff on, and move your retail items around. You will want to go behind them to straighten out the hats and gloves.
