How to Do Abdominal Workouts After Pregnancy
Pregnancy results in a lovely bundle of joy that is much desired. However, it can also leave a not so desirable bundle on your abdomen. Many women are faced with the problem of needing to tone up their stomach area after having a baby. To get that six-pack back, abdominal workouts can be used to tone post pregnant muscles.
Pelvic Tilts
- Lay on the floor with your knees bent, but your feet and back on the ground.
- Tilt your pelvis up away from the ground and hold the pose for a few seconds before lowering back down to the ground.
- Repeat the hold 15 times and finish three sets.
No-Crunch Crunch
- Position your body on the floor with your knees bent and feet on the ground.
- Place your hands on the sides of your stomach so that they are in line with your navel.
- Press your hands into your lower abdomen and try to gently draw your abdomen to the ground. Do this without moving your pelvis, raising your chest or holding your breath.
- Stop when you feel your muscles tighten under your fingers.
- Hold your abdomen in this position for 10 to 15 seconds while still breathing normally.
- Repeat 10 times.
V-Sit
- Sit on the ground in a seated position with your legs in front of you.
- Lift your legs up together at a 45-degree angle and reach up to your toes by outstretching your arms.
- Hold the position, trying to mimic a V-shape with your body core and legs, for several seconds.
- Slowly relax your body out of the hold.
- Repeat the hold for several seconds three times.
Scissor Kicks
- Lay on the floor with your hands under your buttocks and your back in contact with the floor.
- Slowly lift one leg about a foot off the ground and lower it back down. When you are lowering one leg, raise the other so that you mimic the action of scissors.
- Repeat the lift cycle 10 times and complete three sets.
