How to Do Front Garden Landscaping on a Budget
There are various ways to create curb appeal on a budget and still have a nice looking front garden to show for it. A great front yard can be created with less than $300. This is a fairly easy task and can be done without even hiring a landscaper.
- Search for natural garden features. Instead of paying top dollar for river rock, driftwood and boulders, you can find them at the beach, river side or out hiking in the woods. Also, look for landscape suppliers who will sell you bulk river rock at low prices, on a per-yard basis. You can be very creative in your front yard with river rock. You can use it for borders, pond features and garden rock features.
- Purchase seeds instead of bushes. Seed packets are less expensive than purchasing saplings and you get more for your money. It does take a little patience and waiting time for the seeds to germinate and mature but the money you save will make it worth the wait.
- Trade with friends or family members. Plants like hostas are great for trading because they grow so fast and expand widely. Ask your family member or friend if you can remove some of the bulbs from their plant and use them. They will be happy to part with the wildly growing hostas because it will save them the time and trouble of having to trim them.
- Spruce up your lawn. Spread grass seeds over barren areas and patchy spots in your front lawn. You can do this by hand or with the use of a spreader. Early spring or late fall is the best time to do this. Cover the area with garden soil and in two weeks your grass should start to fill in nicely.
