How to Do Roller Skating Crossovers

It is difficult to learn how to do roller skating crossovers, but with time and patience you can master this skill. Once you do, you can go much faster when doing turns while roller skating. Practice this new technique as much as you can, as it does take time to learn to do it properly.

Items:

  • Skates

  • Knee pads

  • Elbow pads

  1. Teach yourself to skate. You need to know how to skate before you can learn how to do crossovers. Practice skating forward, backwards, and lean how to stop yourself. You should also practice going around turns on the skate floor.

  2. Wear pads when you first start learning how to do crossovers because you will probably fall a few times before you get it right. Wear pads on your knees and elbows to protect them.

  3. Start off skating slowly and start going around a left turn. As you are going around the left turn put your right foot over your left foot, and then push off the right foot until your left foot is back in front of your right foot. As you are going around a right turn, do the same thing except switch the feet.

  4. Practice by going around in circles placing one foot over the other until it starts to feel normal to you. It may feel awkward at first, but over time it will seem more natural. Plan on falling a lot as you learn. It is not easy to do a crossover when you are first learning. Once you learn to do it correctly, try to do it backwards for even more fun.
