How to Do Wing Chun Entrance Techniques

Wing chun is an important martial art in the Chinese culture. This martial art form focuses on stability. Wing chun, translated in English, means beautiful springtime. Although the fundamentals of this art form are simple, it is extremely hard to get right.

  1. Start by having no weapons in your hands. Go into the Siu Lim Tao position. Practice how you are going to fight using your hands so you can become more accurate and faster.

  2. Become educated in how to relax and breathe properly. When you are practicing this martial art form, you need to know how to not panic. You have to be relaxed if you want to get all of the positions and movements correct.

  3. Become educated in how to master the straight punch correctly. The elbow is where you are going to be getting your strength from when you are punching something. The punch should be straight out and not winding. Repeat this steps many times.

  4. Learn the Yee Gee Kim Yeung Ma position. This is going to be the footwork for the martial art. In wing chun, the strength comes from the heels of your feet.

  5. Become educated in the lifting punch. This may look like the uppercut punch, but it totally different. The lifting punch is going to begin near your chest and is going to travel up.

  6. Learn how to use your arms and hands to figure out where your opponent is going to move next. You need to be extremely close to the opponent so that you can block all of his attacks.
