How to Do a Complete Auto Detailing at Home
Auto detailing professionals don't actually do much more than a regular person with the right equipment can do when detailing an automobile. However, their prices can be pretty steep. If you are willing to do the work yourself at home, you can save quite a bit of money.
Supplies:
- Car wash soap
- Car wax
- Sponge
- Bucket
- Rags
- Interior cleaner
- Water hose
- Vacuum
- Drive your automobile to a position that is near your water hose. It's important that every part of your vehicle is in reach of the water coming from the hose. It's a good idea to have an attachment that allows your water hose to spray the water.
- Fill up your bucket with water and the recommended amount of car wash soap. The amount will most likely differ depending on the type of car wash cleaner you use. Simply follow the directions given on the packaging. Once you have your bucket full, place your sponge into the water and let it soak.
- Use your water hose to wet down your automobile entirely. Make sure you wet the tires and roof as well.
- Take your sponge and scrub your vehicle down until you have washed every part of the exterior. Once the entire vehicle is scrubbed using car wash soap, use your hose to rinse the car off until there is no more soap suds left on the automobile.
- Use your vacuum with a hose attachment to vacuum out the vehicle. You should vacuum all the floor boards, the seats and anywhere else there may be carpet.
- Use your interior cleaner to wipe down everywhere that isn't carpet including your dash, steering wheel, doors, etc. If you have leather seats, use leather cleaner to wipe them down. Use glass cleaner to clean all of the interior windows.
- Read the directions on your car wax packaging. This will tell you the proper way to use the wax on your vehicle. Once you are done waxing, you can either stop there, or if you want a complete detail, you can clean under the hood and in the trunk as well.
