How to Do a Manicure and Pedicure at Home

  1. Assess your hands and feet to find out what type of work has to be done. Depending upon the looks of both, you may spend an hour or close to two hours.

  2. Remove old nail polish from both toe and fingernails by soaking cotton balls in nail polish remover, then wiping the nail polish from toenails and fingernails.

  3. Allow your fingers to soak in a small bowl of warm soapy water. You can use your favorite type of soap solution. Put your feet in a large foot basin and allow them to soak in warm water. This will make the dead skin and cuticles become soft.

  4. Use your nailbrush to clean your hands and get under your finger and toenails.

  5. Rinse your feet and hand hands with warm water and dry them with a towel. You can put the towel down on the floor and wrap your feet in it to absorb the water. Use a small washcloth to get in between the fingers and toes. Make sure all your nails are completely dry.

  6. Clip your cuticles or any hangnails if visible. Make sure you clip your toe and fingernails down if needed.

  7. Use a lotion or hand cream to soften your fingers. You can use a foot cream or lotion for your feet.

  8. Apply your new finger and toenail polish. Make sure you put on a clear hardener coat to strengthen your nails.
