How to Download IRS Tax Forms
The most preferred method of delivering the appropriate tax forms to the public is through the use of the forms and publications portion of the Internal Revenue Service’s website. This page provides you with instructions on the forms, schedules and the option to print any form you need.
- Gather all of your financial information you will use to file your taxes. This information includes tax records, credits, deductions and any of the filing categories that apply to your specific business or personal situation.
- Confirm that you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. This free software is available for download from the manufacturer’s website. Navigate to the Adobe site and confirm whether or not you have the software installed. If not, install the software on your device.
- Navigate to the IRS website and locate the Forms and Publications Resource page to look for the forms you need to download. When searching for the forms you need, the search box option provides you with a variety of ways to find exactly what you need. Search by form number, topical index, publication number or through the list of file names in the directory.
- Click “Download” on each file you wish to download to your computer. If you have multiple forms to select, click the Control (Ctrl) button on your keyboard and select each one.
- Print the files so you are able to properly fill them out and send them to the agency. If you have a program that allows you to fill out the forms on your computer, complete the form and print.
