How to Draft House Designs
Designing a home for someone or even for yourself can be very exciting. To build something that you create in your mind is an amazing feeling. For some, the idea of having a home that is unique can make it all the more special. It is very simple to have the house of your dreams built. If you can think it, it can become real.
- Make sure you purchase a computer-aided design program, or CAD. This program has all of the tools you will need to assist in your design. Some types of these programs may even be free of charge. This is one of the most important things you will need when trying to design a house.
- Draft the floor plan first. This is usually found at the top of your CAD program. You will then need to draw a rectangle of any shape and size by using the line creation tool that is available.
- Use the orbit tool to change your design to 3-D. This can also be done by using the perspective view, depending on which type of program you are using. Changing your design to 3-D will enable you to work easier and see things more clearly.
- Use your program’s extrusion modifier to convert your 2-D rectangle into a 3-D box. You will need to make sure that the box is as high as it is wide. You can do this by adjusting the extrusions height.
- Form the roof. Make sure the roof is larger than the house’s top. This is done by creating a plane object and sitting it on the top. Align the plane by dividing the the house’s top face with a line. After you have done this step you can edit the faces, edges and vertices.
- Use the translation tool to raise the roof. This will create the design of the home.
