How to Draw Simple House Plans

A lot of people like to purchase homes that are already build and designed to meet their needs. Others wish to design their own homes and have them built from scratch. In the past years you would have to hire an architect to create a blueprint of your home. Now with new technology there are computer programs that are available to help you draw and create simple house plans of designs that you desire.

1. Pull up the website floorplanner.com on your computer and register for a new account. To complete the setup process, follow the directions given through the prompts. Once you are registered you will be give a free blueprint to begin making your house plans. You will be able to save and print out your designed blueprint and share with a builder in addition to family and friends.


2. Begin drawing the rooms on your virtual blueprint. Locate and press the "Draw Room" button that is under the "Construction" box. Click anywhere on the blueprint and then click anywhere again once you have completed your room. For all of the adjacent rooms on the blueprint, repeat this process.


3. Select "Draw Surface" under the "Construction" menu to modify the shape of the walls in each room. To adjust or change the thickness of the walls, click on the wall. You will also be able to modify the walls by splitting or deleting them. Create curved walls or window shapes by moving the walls around.


4. Create different surfaces on your house place by clicking on "Draw Surface" from the "Construction" box. To achieve the desired surface, click on one point of the grid, then another, and continue this process until you are satisfied. Change the color and texture of the walls to your choosing.


5. Search under the "Library" box from a set of categories to place furniture into each room. Just drag and drop each furniture piece into the rooms and place them into your house plans.


6. Insert any miscellaneous housing objects into your house plans that you desire such as, fences, or hedges, simply selecting the third option under the "Construction" menu.
