How to Draw a Desert in Landscape Paintings
If you want to make a landscape painting of a desert and want it to look amazing and realistic you should know a few simple techniques and tricks. You can use any type of paint to get the desired result. If you can’t afford to make a trip to an actual desert, a photograph will work perfectly for reference.
- Make an outline. The first step in a landscape drawing is to make a nearly accurate outline on a sturdy sheet. This should be roughly made and refined later after adding details.
- Draw a horizon. You will have to draw a horizon to give it a dimension. This simple trick can give your painting a solid appearance, almost realistic as you might be viewing it live.
- Create a vanishing touch. A vanishing point in a desert landscape pointing is essential; you may integrate a road or something similar in the painting and extend it in a way to show as if it is eventually vanishing near the horizon.
- Make the right colors. It is best if you use a reference photograph of a desert landscape. You can observe it closely and blend in a few shades to give the exact same effect as in the photograph.
- Use the appropriate color. If you are intending to make a sky it is advisable that you use a vibrant blue for it, the contrast with the muddy desert will look great. Also instead of just conventionally using a brush you can also use sponge to make the cloud beds.
- Add details. Look at the reference picture and cover all the tiny details like vegetations to get the final outlook of your painting.
