How to Dress for a Banking Job

If you have a bank job you should make sure that you dress yourself well to make a good impression and to ensure that you are following the bank's dress code.  Make sure to choose clothing that is professional and conservative.  Also, choose clothing items that are clean and free of wrinkles for the best business look.

  • Dress conservatively for a banking job.  Banks are professional institutions and will require that you dress appropriately.  For an appropriate look wear clothes that offer full coverage and that fit well without being too tight or too baggy.

  • Contact the human resources department for the bank you will be working for to see if there is a dress code.  These dress codes will usually be business professional or business casual.  If you are unsure of what these terms mean when you are advised of the code ask for clarification so that your attire fits within the banks dress standards.

  • Wear clothing that in appropriate colors for your bank job.  Consider colors like dark blue, black and gray for your business clothing.  Avoid bright colors when dressing for a bank job because this will look inappropriate and make you stand out against the other banking employees.

  • Keep accessories like scarves and jewelry items to a minimum when dressing for your bank job.  A few accessory items are ok but if you overdo it you will look tacky and unprofessional.  Choose simple items like plain jewelry to wear with your business attire for the best look.

  • Make sure that all items that you wear are neat and clean without any wrinkles to make your clothing look professional.  If you wear items that are maintained poorly this will give the perception that you are untidy and that you do not care about the job you are performing.
