How to Feed Labrador Puppies

Most children would love to have a Labrador puppy as a pet because they are so cute and cuddly when they are small. It is very important to learn how to properly feed your puppy to keep him happy and healthy.

Labrador Retrievers make the perfect family pet, especially for families with children. Kids love them because they are active and fun to play with. The puppy should be fed the proper diet to keep them in good health.

  • Purchase a quality brand of dog food specially made for puppies. It is highly recommended that you give the puppy the same type of dog food that the breeder was giving him. If you did not get the puppy from a breeder look for a puppy food that has a good balance of protein, fats, minerals and carbs. Consult with a salesperson at a pet store if you are unsure of the best type of food to purchase.

  • Provide the puppy with plenty of fresh clean water.

  • Feed the puppy three times per day, which includes morning, afternoon and evening. Only allow the puppy to eat for approximately 20 minutes before taking the food away.

  • Slowing increase the amount of food you feed the puppy as it grows.

  • Reduce the number of times you feed the puppy after about 4 to 6 months. It is recommended that you only feed it two times per day instead of three. Feed it only one time in the morning and again in the evening. This will help you maintain the weight of the puppy.
