How to Find Bras for a Mastectomy

A mastectomy is a procedure that's performed to help treat breast cancer by removing part or all of a breast in hopes of eliminating the cancer. Mastectomy bras are bras that are worn after a mastectomy is performed, and are meant to help hold breast forms in place, maintain good posture and provide support if one breast remains. When buying this type of bra, there are several ways to go about finding them.

  1. Ask your doctor to recommend where you can go to purchase a mastectomy bra. Your doctor and the people on his staff are likely to be familiar with places that sell the bras that you need and can be helpful in steering you in the right direction.

  2. Visit the Tender Loving Care (TLC) website to find and purchase mastectomy bras. This is a non-profit website that is affiliated with the American Cancer Society and offers a range of mastectomy products, including bras, for you to choose from. TLC also offers bras for purchase by catalog as well.

  3. Go the American Cancer Society Website and locate the search box. Type in "Breast Prostheses and Hair Loss Accessories List" and click on the "Search" button. Click the link with the same name to see a list of retailers and manufacturers that sell bras and other mastectomy products. With the exception of TLC, these companies are not endorsed, affiliated with or approved by the American Cancer Society

  4. Perform a general search for mastectomy bras using your preferred search engine. Type in the words "Mastectomy Bras" and click the "Search" button for results. Customize your search by typing in your zip code before adding "mastectomy bras" to the search box.
