How to Find Electricity Bills for an Address

Before you move to a specific address, it can be helpful to have an idea of what sort of electric bills you may be facing. Electric companies can give you this information without giving you personal information about the previous account holders for that address.

  1. Search the Internet for electric companies in the city in which the address is located. Search specifically for either "utility companies" or "electric companies." Gather the names and phone numbers of all of the electric companies that service that city. If there is more than one, you will need to contact each one until you locate the correct company.

  2. Call one of the electric companies on your list and request to speak to a representative from the customer service department. Some electric companies use a computerized menu to field calls. In this case, you may need to press "0" or state that you want to speak to a representative in order to speak to someone in the customer service department.

  3. Explain to the electric company customer service representative that you are seeking information about past electricity bills for a specific address. If the company services that address, the customer service representative will be able to give you the total for the highest bill, the lowest bill and the average for a year's usage. If the company you contact first does not service that address, contact the rest of the electric companies on your list until you find the correct company.
